I’m so surprised this was a debut novel. The slow and engaging storytelling was excellent and the life lessons throughout were very well done. I loved this book! It’s included with the KU membership but I think I need to purchase a trophy copy for my shelves.

If you enjoyed The Midnight Library by Matt Haig or The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue I think you’ll love this book too!

Funny banter, lovable FMC, and a bodyguard you can’t help but fall for; this book was adorable!
The enchanted sword that Sarkis lives in gives me Genie from Aladdin vibes. 🧞‍♂️
If you want a light fantasy with a little bodyguard romance- add this to your TBR.

How did 2025 go by so quickly?! I read some amazing books this year and it was soooo hard to narrow down my favorites.

I’m making tortilla soup, having some friends over for board games and we will end the night with a toast and lighting sparklers.

Gabe rescuing Lexie on her wedding day when her groom leaves her right before the alter? *Swoon*
The way he took over, made plans for her and whisked her away just screams hidden feelings and I’m here for it.
Friends for over 30 years and Gabe has been waiting on the sidelines to make his move. #friendstolovers
I loved the journey of Lexie finding her passion and following it through with the endearing encouragement from her friends.

Is this the best holiday romcom?!
The banter, the internal dialogue and the heavy topics were done *perfectly*.
Grace’s husband died of cancer and Henry’s wife passed in a freak accident. They are both forced together by their meddling moms and they bond over their shared experience with grief.
Grace was the best character imo, she was so easy going and let Henry just relax into her bustling family.
This is a book I could reread every holiday season!

The dramatic build up in this story kept me guessing the entire book. Alternating timelines, multiple POVs and an unusual murdr mystery that continues surprise you.
The island itself has ways of giving hints but the people in town don’t want their secrets to get out and they’ll do anything to keep them buried…

I really enjoyed Emery & August and the struggle with their past, what they thought they knew about each other and how they come together.

I love Adrienne Young and her poetic writing style and detailed imagery. I found her from the Unmaking of June Farrow, which I absolutely loved & A Sea of Unspoken things.

The Song of Achilles by @madeline.e.miller is one of my all-time favorite books. This story is unforgettable and the love and heartbreak is remarkably emotional 😭 I can’t recommend it enough.

I absolutely could NOT put this down. The plot was so twisty and I had a hard time guessing what was going to happen next, which is my favorite thing about a suspense novel. The way the lawyer, Eddie Flynn would handle situations was awesome and maybe not necessarily legal but it got the job done!

I will definitely be reading more from this author and especially this series.

I absolutely could NOT put this down. The plot was so twisty and I had a hard time guessing what was going to happen next, which is my favorite thing about a suspense novel. The way the lawyer, Eddie Flynn would handle situations was awesome and maybe not necessarily legal but it got the job done!

I will definitely be reading more from this author and especially this series.

I’m also working my way through Amy Knupp’s backlog and thoroughly enjoying her small town sweet romances.
The Night We Met (ARC) by Abby Jimenez was definitely my favorite book this month, it was so so good! She always knows how to pull the heartstrings.
Unfortunately I did DNF ‘Love, Mom’. The writing style just wasn’t for me.

This was a perfect road trip read as we drove through Washington & Oregon.

The premise and cover of this book sounded/looked so good I ran to order it from Waterstones so I could get my hand on a copy before the US release date in May 2026. (Thankfully I was also approved for the ARC through Netgalley!)

Let’s get down to my review ✍️

Essentially, I enjoyed the book but I felt there were so plot points missing and a handful of this I was confused on. The characters were likeable enough but not super relatable. There were also some vape references and current day slang that took me out of the story. 😒
The story is interesting and I was curious the entire time what was going to happen. Most of the action was in the last 20% of the book and there will be another book to follow since the story isn’t completely wrapped up.

I think if you’re interested, definitely read it for yourself because it might be a 5 ⭐️ book for you!
It’s out now in UK & AUS with a 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟓𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 USA release date.

Previously spoiled, rich girl Magnolia and hardworking Christmas Tree 🎄 farmer Luke have a messy history.
They have been waiting for their redemption story and this is it!! I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve from childhood enemies to friends to eventually lovers. Both characters are working to rebuild their lives and I loved seeing how that part played into their relationship.
Pop ins from Esmerelda the Llama are my favorite 🦙

They have been waiting for their redemption story and this is it!! I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve from childhood enemies to friends to eventually lovers. Both characters are working to rebuild their lives and I loved seeing how that part played into their relationship.

I received this book in a book swap on a Disney cruise we went on back in March and I’m finally got around to reading it! Why did I wait so long??

🐙 A sentient giant octopus named Marcellus
👵🏻 A elderly & vibrant cleaning lady named Tova
🧍‍♂️ A struggling man named Cameron who can’t seem to find his place in the world

I loved how these three intersected. Marcellus’ POV was so entertaining and I wish there had been more!
This was such a sweet and wholesome story good for a cozy read. I may have cried a little 🥹

Wowww. This book has really stuck with me since I read it a couple weeks ago, just like the first book Karma Never Sleeps did. I’m in the middle of my Stephen King era and I picked up this ARC and it fit right in.

The suspense, the CHASE through the ****** (no spoilers!) and the depth of characters had me absolutely riveted. Detective Gus Wheeler really knows how to come at these events from all angles.

I can’t begin to thank this debut author enough for picking me to read both of his books.

The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez (ARC)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely LOVED this book and it’s now at the top of favorites for this author.
Larissa is dating Chris’ best friend Mike. Chris is absolutely 10,000% smitten with Larissa but his moral compass keeps him from making a move.
The 𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 between them was palpable 🫠 and there were multiple times I was yelling at Chris to just TELL HER how he felt.
Mike was insufferable and I (and Chris!) wanted so much better for Larissa. I enjoyed watching her character progression in this story.

The ARC is being sent off to the next reader and I cannot wait to have my copy on my bookshelf.

The quick POV switching in this book made it so suspenseful! Back and forth within the same chapter and you never knew whose perspective you were going to pop into next. I had approximately five suspects in mind for murders but was (thankfully) surprised with the outcome. I actually despise when I guess who it is and I turn out to be correct.

My husband is extremely talented and can basically make my dreams happen with his bare hands (and a *few* tools) 🧰
After we bought this house he built out this basically empty closet into a combo half closet (left side) and my office/library (right side) since the “office” in our house is currently a playroom for the kids.
I spend so much time in this room and I’ve been 𝘥𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 for natural light. I planted the seed of potentially putting a window in this room and now plans are starting to form.
The window will replace the mirror and go in the middle of this wall and be almost 80in tall!

It’s not a Kristin Hannah book if I haven’t absolutely bawled my eyes out at least once.
I think my heart just broke over and over again for the main character Elsa. What a complicated, harsh, desperate life she led. Her perseverance can’t be outmatched. I love how her daughter Loreda would push her.

Absolutely EPIC Finale to The Bridge Kingdom romantasy series. WOW.
No Spoilers but DLJ really took us out with a BANG on this one. So many twists, battling, revenge, and allll the tension. The dramatic audio on @audible was great and really heightened the drama.

✨Leave Me Behind by K.M. Moronova ✨

Bully, Dark Romance in a military special ops setting. This one was an impulse buy for me and I went in blind. The MMC was aggravating and very wishy-washy. Did he hate her or not?! The FMC was likeable until the last 25% of the book and that whole scene was…. unfortunate.
This was not the dark romance I wanted to fulfill my mood.

I’m obsessed. I loved book 2 even more than The Shining! This seriously was a psychological thriller at its best. The mind games in Dr Sleep are wild. Rose the Hat? Such an intense villain.
Without spoiling anything, I loved the character progression of Dan into adulthood and introducing Abra into this world. If The Shining was dipping your toe in, Dr Sleep was a cannonball.
We watched the movie and while it didn’t 100% follow the book, I think it perfectly pulled in what was missing from the first movie and tied up the storyline together.
My favorite parts?
📦 The boxes in Dan’s mind.
✍️ The chalkboard communication
🐈 Azzie the cat

I watched a clip from an interview with Stephen King and he said he was a “functioning alcoholic” while writing The Shining and “many years sober” when he wrote Dr Sleep. That was a cool fact and also made me look at Danny on a deeper level knowing the author could relate so personally to his character.

Cozy fantasy with loveable characters, funny banter and found family. Zombie rooster who was accidentally resurrected? whoops, now we have a new character!
Sera just wants to do her job but grumpy Luke shows up at the inn with his little sister Posy and everything changes.
Perfect slow-burn between Sera & Luke and I especially enjoyed their whimsical magic.
This was another perfect witchy October read/listen.🎧

Top tier Romantic Suspense! The undercurrent of fear throughout this story made it impossible to put down.

So far, this is one of my favorites from SK. Let spooky October continue with this gripping physiological horror.
Jack, his wife Wendy and their son Danny stay in the infamous Overlook Hotel as caretakers for the winter season.
I was enthralled with the character ARC of Jack. His traumatic childhood, his struggle with alcohol in adulthood and then his resulting mental struggles (that only increased once he arrived at The Overlook) made Jack someone you empathized with and at the same time hated.

There were only a couple times I had to set the book down to take a break 😉 but I looked how thrilling it was. And Hallorann? Loved him and how he looks out for Danny.

We watched The Shining Movie after I finished the book and I have soooo many thoughts. But essentially, the movie doesn’t live up to the book. It’s missing a lot of what (imo) makes The Shining great.

On to Dr Sleep next!
